06-03-11 – THE JACOBSON FIRM, P.C. NEGOTIATES DEAL BETWEEN SONGWRITER TONY PACE AND UNIQUE INSPIRATIONAL GROUP
(New York, NY) The Jacobson Firm, P.C. successfully negotiated an agreement with the internationally renowned musical group Flame, for the use of client and songwriter Tony Pace’s song “Someone Like You” on its first album. Flame, whose mission is to change the world through music, is an ensemble of twelve members all sharing a unique characteristic; they all have developmental and physical disabilities, including autism, Down syndrome and blindness.
The idea for this one-of-a-kind group sprang from a 2003 recreational program at Lexington Center, Fulton County Chapter, NYSARC, Inc., a not-for-profit agency serving people with developmental disabilities. The group began playing at the agency and around town, and word of the inspirational phenomenon quickly spread. Flame currently schedules close to a hundred paid performances a year around the world. The group has performed at the Apollo Theatre, Harvard Law School, Notre Dame University, Idaho Taco Bell Center, and Athens, Greece. Flame has also appeared on “Good Morning America” and was recently featured in People Magazine.
Flame recently released its first album entitled “Outside the Lines,” featuring twelve tracks, one of which covers songwriter Tony Pace’s moving tune, “Someone Like You.” This is the first time one of Mr. Pace’s songs has been covered by another artist. Jeffrey E. Jacobson, of The Jacobson Firm, P.C., successfully brokered the mechanical licensing agreement and song placement on behalf of client Tony Pace, allowing Flame to produce its own unique version of the song.
