(New York, NY) The Jacobson Firm, P.C. successfully negotiated an employment contract with the Oprah Winfrey Network, on behalf of Rachel Weintraub, as the Co-Executive Producer of “The Gayle King Show.” Prior to this, Ms. Weintraub had been an Emmy-nominated Producer of “The View”. “The Gayle King Show” premiered on January 10th, 2011 on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) and has already hosted a number of prominent guests, including First Lady Michelle Obama, Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden, Justin Bieber, Chris Rock, Lady Gaga, Tina Fey and Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz.
06-03-11 - THE JACOBSON FIRM, P.C. NEGOTIATES DEAL BETWEEN SONGWRITER TONY PACE AND UNIQUE INSPIRATIONAL GROUP
(New York, NY) The Jacobson Firm, P.C. successfully negotiated an agreement with the internationally renowned musical group Flame, for the use of client and songwriter Tony Pace’s song “Someone Like You” on its first album. Flame, whose mission is to change the world through music, is an ensemble of twelve members all sharing a unique characteristic; they all have developmental and physical disabilities, including autism, Down syndrome and blindness.
The idea for this one-of-a-kind group sprang from a 2003 recreational program at Lexington Center, Fulton County Chapter, NYSARC, Inc., a not-for-profit agency serving people with developmental disabilities. The group began playing at the agency and around town, and word of the inspirational phenomenon quickly spread. Flame currently schedules close to a hundred paid performances a year around the world. The group has performed at the Apollo Theatre, Harvard Law School, Notre Dame University, Idaho Taco Bell Center, and Athens, Greece. Flame has also appeared on “Good Morning America” and was recently featured in People Magazine.
Flame recently released its first album entitled “Outside the Lines,” featuring twelve tracks, one of which covers songwriter Tony Pace’s moving tune, “Someone Like You.” This is the first time one of Mr. Pace’s songs has been covered by another artist. Jeffrey E. Jacobson, of The Jacobson Firm, P.C., successfully brokered the mechanical licensing agreement and song placement on behalf of client Tony Pace, allowing Flame to produce its own unique version of the song.

(New York, NY) The Jacobson Firm, P.C. successfully negotiated a synchronization license on behalf of a client songwriter for use in a major corporation’s television commercial airing during Super Bowl XLV. The license covered the use of the client’s musical composition in a commercial airing during the third quarter of the prestigious sporting event. Super Bowl XLV was seen by a record setting television audience—111 million viewers in the United States alone tuned into this year’s game.
04-03-11 - JEFFREY E. JACOBSON SERVES AGAIN AS FINALIST JUDGE
(New York, NY) Jeffrey E. Jacobson of The Jacobson Firm, P.C., served again as a finalist judge in the ASCAP Nathan Burkan Memorial Writing Competition. One of three finalist judges, for the past five years they have helped select the three victorious papers written by law students who are entitled to receive significant cash awards and further consideration for publication. The ASCAP sponsored competition is now administered by the editorial board of the Journal of the Copyright Society of the U.S.A. While attending New York Law School in the late 70s, Jacobson himself won the competition.
08-09-10 - JEFFREY E. JACOBSON RE-APPOINTED CHAIRMAN OF THE BROADCASTING, SOUND RECORDINGS AND PERFORMING ARTISTS COMMITTEE
Jeffrey E. Jacobson has been reappointed Chairman of the Broadcasting, Sound Recordings and Performing Artists Committee for the American Bar Association (ABA Committee 306). His responsibilities include guiding members in developing Bar Association policy positions in the form of resolutions, with a proactive approach in the copyright area.
Jeffrey E. Jacobson spoke at the national webinar, “Seeking Harmony in Music Distribution,” for the American Bar Association Connection. Mr. Jacobson also moderated a webinar on the proposed Performing Rights Act that is pending before Congress.
